A Soulful Ramadan Journey: Healing the Heart *

For many Muslims, Ramadan brings both hope and pressure—the desire for a transformative spiritual experience often clashing with the weight of perfectionism and emotional struggles.

You may feel disconnected, overwhelmed by the pressure to achieve a spiritual high, or burdened by trauma and unspoken pain that prevents you from fully embracing this sacred time.

And you are not alone. No Muslim is immune to life’s difficulties, and these experiences leave lasting imprints on the soul (i.e., trauma), especially within the heart—the center of our spiritual being. These wounds shape how we view ourselves, others, and our relationship with Allah (SWT). Yet true healing doesn’t come from simply thinking or behaving differently. We must feel through these wounds, reconnecting with Allah to heal from the inside out.

A Soulful Ramadan: Healing the Heart is designed for Muslims seeking a deeper, more soulful Ramadan focused on spiritual and emotional healing. Rooted in Islamic Psychology, this five-week online program will guide attendees on a journey of inner transformation, helping them address emotional wounds in a holistic and compassionate way.

A Soulful Ramadan: Learning Objectives

Week 1: Gaining Soul Awareness

  • Develop a foundational understanding of the Islamic model of the soul (nafs) and its components.

  • Explore the concepts of "trauma" and "healing" through the lens of Islamic Psychology.

  • Reflect on personal challenges with the soul and recognize how they may manifest during Ramadan.

  • Begin mapping patterns of struggle and growth within your soul’s journey.

Week 2: Getting into the Heart – Emotional Processing

  • Understand trauma as a nervous system response and explore the 4F survival responses (Fight, Flight, Freeze, Fawn).

  • Recognize personal trauma responses and how they show up in your daily life.

  • Integrate somatic and emotional check-ins as part of a daily soulful presence practice.

Week 3: Getting Out of Your Head – Unlearning Your Narrative

  • Identify the root causes of overthinking and self-analysis that disconnect you from the present moment.

  • Recognize and name thinking traps (e.g., catastrophizing, black-and-white thinking, self-criticism) that pull you away from tawakkul (trust in Allah).

  • Explore Islamic spiritual practices to ground yourself when caught in cycles of overthinking.

Week 4: Holding Yourself Accountable…Compassionately

  • Explore the concept of compassionate self-accountability as a long-term practice beyond Ramadan.

  • Revisit your soul map, reflecting on the insights gained over the past three weeks and adjusting your goals.

  • Learn practical mechanisms for sustaining soulful growth while embracing self-compassion.

Week 5: Post-Ramadan Check-In

  • Discussion; Question and Answer; Continued Support

🌿 You feel overwhelmed by Ramadan and the pressure to achieve a spiritual high
Every Ramadan, there can be immense pressure to achieve a perfect spiritual experience. You may feel discouraged when you don’t meet certain expectations or feel the emotional high you long for. This program is designed to help you move beyond pressure and perfectionism, embracing healing and gentle growth instead.

🌿 You want a community focused on healing
Healing isn’t meant to happen in isolation. You’re looking for a space to reflect, share, and grow alongside others who are also committed to nurturing their hearts, bodies, and souls this Ramadan.

🌿 You want to explore your emotional blocks to spiritual connection
Do you find it difficult to experience deep khushu' (presence) in salah? Or maybe your relationship with Allah feels distant at times. In this program, we will explore what may be holding you back emotionally and spiritually.
