About

A Compassionate and Shame-Free Space

From the start of her career in 2007, Sameera has boldly addressed gaps for Muslim mental, sexual, and spiritual health. Sameera deeply understands the complexity and sensitivity of issues that many of us face with our sexual health, and how this cannot be addressed without the Islamic tradition and our worldview as Muslims. Her online therapy space is ideal for those wanting to explore the issues they’re facing, to receive practical guidance and support in a holistic way. Are you ready to do the work?

★★★★★

“Sameera's calm demeanor and ability to intently listen allow one to open old and sometimes deep wounds to identify the root cause of coping mechanisms and behaviors that may have directly and indirectly impacted my choices in life. The tools she shares are practical and not at all overwhelming.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

What topics can I see you for? Just sexual health?

Any and all topics related to sexual, mental, physical, and/or spiritual health! No part of us is separate, and I approach issues in therapy from a holistic perspective. If something is beyond my expertise, I will let you know during the intake process.

What populations and ages do you work with?

I work with Muslim and non-Muslim clients, of all ages! I have expertise in children and youth, all the way through older adulthood. While the majority of my clients are Muslims, I have always also worked in non-Muslim spaces at the same time. I welcome all those looking for a mind, body, soul, and spirit approach!

Do you accept insurance? Do you provide invoices?

No, I currently do not accept insurance. I see clients from around the world, and take credit cards for payment. For those who live in the United States, you can use your HSA/FSA cards for session payments. I can provide an invoice - just ask and I’ll send one!

What if I just have one question? Can we just chat quickly?

Rarely is it just “one question” given the additional context or information I will need to provide you with individualized support. I offer so much information and resources on social media for free - so if you have a question, I’d recommend starting there and then requesting a therapy session, if needed.

How many sessions will I need with you? And how often?

There is no way to know this or plan it out! Ideally, once you start therapy, you’ll want to keep attending sessions - this helps with support, accountability, and the inner work you’ll be doing. We will discuss the plan together in session and revisit this frequently.

What is your educational and professional background?

I have a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Calgary; a Masters’ degree in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University; and a post-graduate diploma in Islamic Psychology from Cambridge Muslim College. Overall, I have 15 years of professional experience. I’m also a registered yoga teacher and continue to take professional development courses related to my work.
